DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 1: Yangon Arrival

Our tour guide & driver will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is still a relatively quiet and charming city. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes Yangon one of the most fascinating and authentic capitals of South-East Asia.

Your guided tour goes to Kandawagyi Park, one of central Yangon’s greenest spots. Here you will see the glittering Karaweik barge, a replica of the royal barge, and the vast lake with views of Shwedagon in the background. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.

Your highlight for this evening is the dinner in Karaweik Palace, overlooking to the Royal Lake and Shwedagon tower. The dinner is served with fine Burmese food and amazing cultural show.

Day 2: Yangon – Fly to Heho – Pindaya – Kalaw

After breakfast, you are free until get picked up to leave Yangon for Heho by a short flight and go ahead Pindaya. We take a nice drive to Pindaya through the picturesque countryside of Shan State. Visit Pindaya’s limestone cave with its maze of chambers displaying more than 8,000 Buddha statues and local handicraft workshops producing Shan paper made from mulberry bark and traditional umbrellas made from the same paper that are used by monks all around the country.

After visit Pindaya, we go ahead to Kalaw.

Located on the mild highland of Shan state, 61km from Inle, this was a popular hill station in the British days and it is still a peaceful and quiet place. At an altitude of 1320m it is also a pleasantly cool and a good place for hiking through bamboo groves and rugged mountain scenery. The main attractions of Kalaw are the town itself, with its mock Tudor colonial bungalows, its ethnic mix of people, and its setting within trekking distance of many ethnic minority villages. Kalaw exposes a green natural beauty, combining the exotic life of ethnic minorities and pine plantations.

Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Kalaw – trekking to Pyin Yar Village

Depart from Kalaw in the morning for more than 2 hours in walking distance, through small ranges with tea-leaf and cheroot-leaf plantations, approach to Ywar Thit village of Danu people. Then proceed to Tar Yaw village of Palaung people. TarYaw village is reputed for its long houses of old style Palaung tribe. Picnic lunch will be taken at Tar Yaw village. After lunch, proceed to Pyin Thar village for about 3 hrs walking. On the way visit two villages. Dinner and stay overnight at Pyin Thar village. Total trekking hours are about 6 hrs for the whole day. (Medium trek).

Day 4: Pyin Yar Village – trekking to Htee Thein

Have a light breakfast. Depart from Pyin Thar village for about 3 hrs walking, approach to Konlon village.
The hidden parts of Kalaw consist of a realm of unique cultures and agriculture founded by many tribes who immigrated here from Mongolia and Tibet.

Lunch will be taken at Konlon village. After lunch, then proceed to Pattu Pauk village for about 3 hrs walking. On the way, visit four villages of Paoh and Taung Yoe people. Dinner and stay overnight at Htee Thein village. Total trekking hours are about 6 hrs for the whole day. (Medium trek).

Day 5: Htee Thein – trekking to Indein – boat trip Inle Lake

The final day of trekking takes you to Inle Lake. After 3 hours trek, we get o our ending trek point, In Dein Temples.
The beautiful temple of Indein locates on the hill overlooking the lake. It will be definitely relaxing to walk along the corridor and enjoy the giant columns which have been left to the nature for centuries

Our boat awaits to take you to your resort for check in.

Rest of the time is free at leisure; enjoy fresh air, blue sky and later, the sunset on the Inle Lake.

Day 6: Inle Lake – Kakku – Inle Lake

After breakfast at your hotel, leave for Kakku. A short boat ride to Naung Shwe before getting on our private car for 2 hour drive to Kakku. Stop at Taung Gyi for a short visit en-route then head into the rolling hills toward the east of the lake. The drive is spectacular, crossing over the railway line and through small villages inhabited to the Pa-Oh people. This area was closed to visitors for many years and even now only a few intrepid tourists make their way through here.

The first view of Kakku is breathtaking: there are more than 5200 individual stupas, some of which are 20 metres high, and several Buddha images scattered throughout. There are no clear facts about the history of the stupas but most date back to the 11th-13th century, the same period when Bagan was thriving. Wander throughout the temples, taking your time to enjoy the wonder and awe of this site and discover the intricate carvings and details on the structures.

Late afternoon, back to Inle Lake to stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Inle Lake – Sagar – Inle Lake

Today, we venture to Sagar, located in the Deep South. The boat journey takes 2.5-3 hours but is full of fabulous views and home to many unique species of birds, both indigenous and migratory.

The area is so far protected and administered by PNO (Pa O National Organization). You may be granted to visit the village of Pa o, Shan and Intha people, to interact with the locals and discover its culture.

The main highlight for many travelers are the ‘sunken’ stupas of Sagar- 108 stupas from the 16-17th centuries and a local monastery.

Another stop will be made in Sae Khaung Pottery Village to see the crafting of oil and water pots as well as the natural, underground kilns used by the villagers. On the western shores of the Sagar area is Tar Kaung, a series of more than 200 stupas which also make a fabulous photo stop.

Lunch will be arranged along the way (either picnic lunch or local lunch at a small restaurant)

Late afternoon, enjoy the beautiful sunset while cruising along the stilt villages back to your resort.

Day 8: Inle Lake – Heho – Fly to Yangon – City Sightseeing Tour

Have a breakfast at your hotel and free until get picked up for Heho airport. Leave Inle Lake for Yangon.

You’ll start at the post office – a lovely historic building- and walk to Sule Paya in the middle of downtown, passing by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument along the way. Then visit Little India and China town, a colorful cacophony of restaurants, temples and markets. Reach Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s Market, where there is time to browse through the dozens of stalls and shops. This is Yangon’s best market for handicrafts and other goods. (Note: Market is closed on Mondays and public holidays).

After lunch we’ll visit Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. A visit to Kyaukhtatgyi provides a great overview of Buddhism with murals depicting the life of Buddha, the feet of the statue carved with traditional symbols and often many locals gathering to pay homage and pray.

Continue our Burma tour to Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, the local legend states that the original structure was built 2500 years ago then renovated several times until taking its current shape in the 15th century. The 8-sided central stupa is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas and your guide will show you around the massive complex, explaining why this temple is so revered. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.

Breakfast at your hotel, you are free until checking out from your hotel, travel by car to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
